COVID-19: Our Response in a Time as This! (vol 1)

Good day, God’s people. Been a long while since we spoke. I trust that God has kept you all safe and secure within the palm of His hands. He is the one who is able to keep that which s committed into His hand unto the perfect day.

In the wake of the recent Covid-19 pandemic caused by the Coronavirus which humanity is still trying to fully understand, there is a lot of fear and bad news gripping the world. But hey! I came to share some good news with you. Hallelujah!

Isaiah 60: 1- 3 has been our reference scripture on this Christain network for a couple of years now since we began our journey. It says:

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Psalms 119:130 says

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

God’s Word is that light! This is a time to live on God’s Word and not on the media or mainstream news. Yes hear them but live on the Word of God.

From Isaiah 60:1 – It is living on this Word (of God – the light) That can make you shine this season. The only way you can shine brightly amidst a global darknessis that you are lighted up by God’s Word and the Word makes God’s glory rise upon you. Yeah! because as “We behold His face like in a glass (looking into God’s Word face-to-face daily)- scriptures say- we are changed from Glory to glory!

Is 60: 2 makes us understand that for everyone else, it is a season of darkness! Coronavirus has proven to the world that indeed, darkness can plague both the rich and the poor, both the exalted seat of government and the outcast gang of terrorists in thick forests. Both great and small nations.

Isaiah 60 speaks about the end times and we are in the end times. Darkness is synonymous with confusion, lack of direction, not knowing where to go, grooping in blindness. Pestilences and diseases like Covid-19 are just one of the examples of the confusion humanity is set to keep facing in the last days. Global terrorism, financial crises, uprisings, war and rumors of wars, political unrest, moral decadence and redefinition of moral standards globally, are all part of the darkness that is prone to plague the earth in the last days.

The good news is, God’s children have been forewarned so they do not have to fear and they are under a covenant of protection from the darkness. And this covenant is activated by living in the light of God’s Word and truth. Hallelujah!

Verse 3 says, “King’s will come to the dawning or rising of our light” This is to say, kings of the earth will come to find solace and hope in the light we shine.

So this is not the season for any serious believer to be fear-full. We must be encouraged today. We are not hopeless like others out there. The same God who told us about this ahead of time and who says He will exempt us, if what He says is coming to pass, why will His exemption not also come to pass in our lives? Of course we shall be exempted!

We are called to cheer the world up and to use our light to overshadow as many who want to come under the influence of the truth of God’s Word. This is how to shine in exemption from the darkness of the last days. Indeed we are in the last days. The darkness Isaiah spoke about here is not ordinary darkness of normal nighttime – that’s why he used the definite article “the darkness”. It is a special kind that’s being referred to.

We are the light of the world, church! We are the light! A city set on the hill cannot be hidden! You cannot light a lamp and keep it under a bushel. These are what scriptures say. Now is the time to live and speak the word. As we do so, we shine  – we pierce the darkness. Our light will shine in the darkness of Covid-19 and Covid-19 will never be able to comprehend or withstand our light. Hallelujah!

What we should be doing is being the light for the world to see – We are the hope this season. Speak not as the unbelievers speak. Fear not as they fear. When there was darkness in Egypt, Goshen was exempted – they had light. We are the exemption. Any unbeliever who comes to us should experience light under our cover. Hallelujah! Glory!

In summary, this is also the season to practice God’s Word in Ephesians 6: 13 -18

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

This is the evil day being spoken about. It’s time to brandish our armour and put them to use church! – The belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, Preaching the gospel – Good news to a “Bad-news-ridden-world”, The shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, The Word of God (The sword).

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.

I’d rather bet myself on God’s WOrd! There shall no evil befall me, neither shall any plague come near my dwelling. This does not mean, we will not do our part to step up our hygiene and preventive measures. But this means we must believe and speak boldly the truth over ourselves this season. We are the exemption, the light that shines in the darkness and the darkness can not comprehend us. Hallelujah!

Next volume, we shall dig deeper into practical steps in living through this season as God intends. God bless you and keep living on purpose!

  1. Very apt and timely truth. The Church plays by a different rule and it’s our time to let the light of His glory shine through us to the world. Well-done, my brother.

    1. Thanks so much Sir Okwudili. God keep you, your family and loved ones over there. The plague shall not come near us in Jesus’ name, Amen.
