Happy Easter to all my readers! I believe this is the most significant season for every Christian around the world. During Easter, we celebrate a demonstration of courage and love, that secured our salvation.
This year, amidst all what Jesus did for us, I would want to discuss a crucial topic that Easter has brought about for every believer – A clarion call to our divine assignments.
Easter was a fulfillment of prophecies gone ahead. It is indeed a celebration of Christ’s fulfillment of His assignment.
Had Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, walked on the sea, but never had gone to the cross; He probably would be celebrated but never would have attained His peak and reason for coming into the world. Imagine the greatest brand on earth would never have been born! The brand “Christ and His Christians!”. It has become such a global that has long imbedded its culture among all tribes and nations of the earth and yet will even the more. Jesus had the choice to either walk in this prophecy or turn His back on it. However, His final decision, “..not my will but Your will oh Father, be done.”
There are many people God has assigned mighty roles on Earth who have left their place unattended. Many have cost humanity lots of lives and property just by never discovering or refusing to pursue a discovered divine course. Many shy away till they get replaced like King Saul was by David a faithful steward. You know choices and decisions are powerful. They eventually decide the outcomes of our individual lives, but not just our lives – thousands, if not millions, of lives. In the words of Myles Munroe, our decisions in life may be personal, but are never a private issue. If it had happened, Christ’s decision to walk away would have been the undoing of all of mankind!
Ever imagined, what could have happened had Christ failed in His ministry or made an error? “Oh!” you’d say, “He never could have failed, for He was God Himself”. But we forget something. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…” If the Bible says He became flesh, it means He became flesh. I mean “flesh”.
How do I know? Scriptures say, God cannot be tempted (James 1:13(KJV))? Yet the Bible says “Christ was tempted but yet was without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). Meaning Christ was very much human on earth only that He had this knowledge of who He was and had unshaken faith in His assignment and course on earth.
You might say, “Oh! There you go Nonso, at least He had prior knowledge of His assignment having come directly from heaven. Since He came from Heaven”, you’d say, “He must have come with all the past experience of heaven. As such He kept focus because He was already in Heaven before and had prior knowledge of the Kingdom He had come to establish.” This has been the assumption of the church but I do not think it is correct. All that knowledge, I believe were wiped off when He came as a seed in Mary’s womb.
How do I know? Hebrews 5:8 says, that “Christ learned obedience through the things that he suffered. From Luke 2:46, we realize He had to study, asking questions from the religious professors of His time, right from an early age. If all the prior knowledge was there as God the Son that he was, He’d have been omniscient from birth and wouldn’t have to learn or study. But you know what? I believe God took Him through every human stage and process so he could be the Lord and Saviour of both the toddler and the adult and so we would have no excuse in fulfilling our destinies here on earth.
So, I am personally convinced that coming as a child, Christ had to leave back all His previous memory of heaven. I imagine He had to come again with a new human brain that never knew how he came into the womb but after being born had to relearn again from experience and study what His life was about, Hallelujah!
What am I driving at and what message can we coin out of this during Easter? Christ came in every likeness of you and me – in a flesh carrying God’s Spirit within. There was just one difference! He was born again from birth having the Indwelling Spirit of God in Him from birth. This same Spirit, God has released upon every born again believer. Christ had to come in flesh, in our likeness so He could feel and pass through everything we pass through and yet be a perfect example of a fulfilled career, ministry, business, brand and all he turned out to be.
If God the Father could do it for Christ, He can do same for you. We have no excuse. If He lived Holy, we too can. If He was never sick, we too can; if, in taking up our poverty, He never lacked, we too can live a life of all round provision while enjoying His riches in Glory.
Above all, if Christ could discover His assignment, die to self, pursue it and achieve a global mandate, then your own global dreams no matter how great beyond your scope it is, can also be achieved!!!
I challenge you this Easter, dare to believe in that dream God has placed in your heart. Discover your slot in His agenda and engage your assignment.
What does it take?
“23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.”
John 12:23-24(KJV).
The ground is your harvest field. Dare to sow your life in there and you will likewise be glorified.
As we celebrate Easter this year, the courage, the tenacity, the love, the resolution, the strength, the determination of Christ to do God’s will and finish His course; may the same Resurrection power of The Spirit of Jesus which dwells in you; bring to life every God-given dream that is dead, dormant or suspended in your life. What could not beat Jesus down, will not beat you down, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Happy Easter friends!
